What would you highlight about Villa El Gallo
Youth hostel type accomodation, good location set in beautiful surroundings - but tired and grotty.
Prior to arrival, communication with the villa company was really good - and they were responsive through most of our stay. Picking the keys up from the box was really easy. The location of the villa is excellent - mountain views, peaceful but only a 5 minute walk to the shops and then 5-10 minutes in to town and the beach. The grounds of the property are beautiful with lots of mature trees. The cooking facilities were wide ranging with everything you might need. Things like surfaces, the fridge, cooker etc. were spotless. The sheets and towels were also clean. I'd align this property to a Youth Hostel - in a beautiful setting but no luxury - difficult to relax and settle in.
I don't like to leave negative reviews unless necessary - and especially given the difficulty the travel industry has experienced. The villa is very old (this is evident in the booking information, so not a suprise) and as a consequence, very tired - there are lots of things broken such as light fixtures, shutters, wires on show, tiles etc. so it feels very unloved. It is dark and dingy inside and the actual fixtures and some of the furnishings are terribly grotty. So for an example, the sofa is heavily stained - to the point you wouldn't want to sit on it. The shower areas have years of dirt build up. It was hard to relax and feel clean. The pool area - on first glance, it's beautiful, but actually, the pool itself is really dirty (the tiles) so we didn't want to use that either. The pool decking is unsafe - there are so many nails not flush with the decking and the decking itself is loose everywhere - you woulddn't want children to play on it at all. There was lots of debris around and just things like a dead bird next to the bedroom - which had been there for some time. Fortunately, we were out all day every day cycling - but if we had just wanted to relax at the villa, we wouldn't have been able to. Because of the disrepair and grime, it just felt old and dirty and not somewhere you would enjoy spending time. It's sad as it could be beautiful with some deep cleaning and TLC. The management company were really responsive at first and sent someone to clean the pool straight away which was great. They also offered a clean - but this place needs a real deep clean, not a dust and a wipe. When I said this wouldn't be the solution, the conversation dried up. I didn't pursue as nothing that could be done during our stay would have made it any better. We just didn't relax here, didn't sleep well as a consequence and we couldn't wait to leave.

Good setting large private gardens and plenty of room
In much need of repair generally . Decking loose and sharp nails and screws proud. Broken lights outside. Wall electric socket loose and wires visible.
